/  blog-1054   /  Digital Foundry solves the secret of square wheels in Enter the Matrix – one of the most terrible ports on PC

The authors of Digital Foundry recorded a semi-semi-semi-sabotage about the PC version Enter The Matrix – She is considered one of the worst ports in history. Among other things, the presenters talked about the very square wheels – if you are familiar with the Lor “Parsing the Flights”, then you probably know what we are talking about!

Digital Foundry launched Enter The Matrix On the gland of its era – a fairly powerful computer from 2003:

PC version was compared with the version for the original Xbox. As DF says, the specified video card is very close to the characteristics of the first console from Microsoft, but has a higher clock frequency. Max Payne On this computer with a resolution of 640 × 480 it issues from 70 to 100 FPS.

But Enter The Matrix Poroused on the PC is just awful. If at the Xbox the game works quite stably at 60 FPS when resolving 480p, then on computers the performance is terribly staggering:

The time slowing button acts like a reduction button for a personnel frequency: when the character goes to the slow, the framework immediately falls from 60 to 20 fps. 60 FPS remains on Xbox.

Here on the stage comes the FORCE Object Lod settings – it inserts reduced quality models into the frame. It is because of this settings that awkward corners appear, including square wheels in the car at the very beginning-a meme and a symbol of problems Enter The Matrix on PC.

According to DF authors, the Force Object Lod option appeared as a desperate attempt to optimize Enter The Matrix on PC. But even if you agree to worsened models, performance is still noticeably packed (although not so much).

In addition, in just one hour of gameplay, the presenters encountered several serious bugs on the PC:

Digital Foundry had a version with all official patches. The only advantage of the PC over XBOX was faster loading.

With disconnected tuning Force Object Lod, PC models are similar to the Xbox models. But for some reason the lighting is different-shadows seem to work more correctly on the consoles.

Development Enter The Matrix The studio https://nokyccasinos.org.uk/review/spins-heaven/ was engaged Shiny. The game came out simultaneously on four platforms – PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube. Production could take place hard because the game from the nose had to be released in parallel with the release "Matrix: rebooting", and y Shiny There was not enough experience with so many devices at the same time. Most likely, the PC version was engaged in the residual principle-hence the result.

Leading Digital Foundry believe that even in working condition (for example, on the same Xbox) Enter The Matrix remains so -so entertainment. After a couple of years Shiny Issued The Matrix: Path of Neo – This game turned out to be better, according to DF authors.

I don’t understand what the problem is if everything is done in the game in realism.

Let’s not forget about the level with giant ants in Path of Neo. Why was it at all?

He played this game in a computer club and was wildly delighted. True, I thought it would not appear later on the plot. True, by this time I never watched the film, so I was normal.

I would not be as categorical as your colleagues from Digital Foundry. Enter the Matrix had a plot that reveals the events of films from another corner and answering some questions from the films. For her, they even recorded an hour of video with the second-plan actors (including Monika Bellucci, and this is talking about something). And Path of Neo is stupidly playing, glued together by short katsets, in places seriously retreating from the plot of films (the ending is completely different, IMHO much worse).

Maybe, of course, the matter is in cognitive distortion, when children’s impressions are always brighter and more pleasant, but I liked Enter the Matrix in due time. I specifically recalcated some levels several times in order to be bewildered with Slow-Mo and Boyovka. But Path of Neo, which came out just a couple of years after, did not like it at once and was abandoned. Therefore, I never understood such a negativity around the game. Especially in comparison with the follower.

I played it then, at the exit. I have never met any critical bugs, especially with plot moments. And the square wheels, like glasses on the heroes, were removed by removing the box from the smoothing option in the launcher. Illogical, yes, but "it" was repaired "with one click. DF sorted out such complex manipulations?)

I also have a discovery, it has long been known that these are lod’s glitches.

I agree, besides, on the pirate that I played later, I turned on (or turned it off, I don’t remember) some kind of setting and voila-square wheels and other artifacts left me.

How good it is that I played it on boxing: Hype: I have not seen this horror: Facepalm:

I hope this is said with irony.

And I wanted to put a question about wheels and lod a question in the ChGK … I wanted to.

I really liked both of these matrix games. The first one was a lot. And the last levels, when you ran away from the agents, me, a young pi *** ka, scared to the parliament.

I remember when I still played Enter the Matrix called to watch my mother, “Watch me pour trinity!".

issues from 70 to 100 FPS.

Maybe it was a philosophy reference. What are your associations when you hear the word "ant"?

I immediately imagine a hive.

How would we all just little bugs (ants), busy with their hard everyday work in the hive (in the matrix). We, as individuals, are the value of milligrams above zero, it is easy to replace us (like we are batteries for cars and no more).

And do not get out of here, neither get out (I watched the video of the ChBU and now I think that Zion is also a matrix).
